It's been more than two years since I wrote and recorded my debut album "Believer". After spending two months in a studio tracking and mixing the latest album, it's interesting to go back and hear what's changed in my approach, vocal performance and the band's sensibility. I still remember what I was feeling when I wrote "Carolina", the exact spot where the lyrics and melody snapped into place and how it evolved from a folk song to a folk-pop song with direction from the producer Martin Feveyear.

The other night during the second show in a twelve part monthly series at the Smith Tower, Torry and I sang an acoustic version of Carolina in the middle of Petra's living room for about 70 friends and strangers to cap off the night. It stuck with me. The song was the same and different all at once. It's still one of my favorites and so I decided to upload and and share it with all of you.

I also decided to post all the lyrics for Believer and some of my other songs on the website so people can more easily follow along if they'd like. You can find the lyrics for "Carolina" here
